Why I Voted for Kamala Harris: A Vote for Women's Rights, Secular Democracy, Forward Thinking, and Inclusivity

Dr. Soraya Fallah

I cast my vote for Kamala Harris because I believe in a future that rejects drama, corruption, bigotry, and divisive politics. I am committed to a secular government that upholds democratic values. Kamala Harris represents the diversity, progress, and forward momentum our country desperately needs. She is a strong advocate for justice, women’s rights, climate policies, and a government focused on serving all people, regardless of faith or background.

With decades of experience as a local prosecutor, San Francisco district attorney, California attorney general, U.S. senator, and now vice president, Harris has taken on corporate polluters, transnational criminals, and for-profit colleges. She consistently supports working families, reproductive rights, and a fair economy. Her leadership style is calm and steady, demonstrating the ability to build consensus and find common ground in today’s polarized climate.

One of Harris’s critical strengths is her approach to climate policy. She recognizes the importance of balancing fossil fuel needs with heavy investments in clean energy, making the transition to renewables essential and achievable. She is committed to expanding clean-energy subsidies and maintaining landmark investments in green infrastructure. Unlike Trump, who aims to unravel these initiatives, Harris is focused on moving forward with realistic climate policies that reflect both urgency and practicality.

Additionally, Harris embodies the values I want in a leader: support for universal pre-K, expanded career and technical education, and accessible healthcare for all. I appreciate her commitment to protecting essential programs and rights, as well as her approach to foreign policy, which strengthens U.S. leadership in NATO and other international alliances.

Is she perfect? No—no one is. That’s what being human looks like. I don’t expect perfection, but I do expect integrity, effort, and a willingness to learn. Harris has demonstrated these qualities throughout her career.

Democracy is fragile. We’ve seen how quickly rights—especially women’s rights—can be dismantled around the world. I refuse to allow us to slip backward by decades. As a U.S. citizen, it’s my duty to defend my rights and the rights of others. Kamala Harris is the secular, dedicated leader we need for a future that values inclusion and progress. My vote stands for secular democracy, stability, and forward movement.

Kamala Harris is my choice for the next president.

No to Trump! Yes to a leader who values progress, equality, democracy, and the planet we all share.
